Cyprus Weddings - Information
Legal Requirements
Please use these requirements as a guide only, individual requirements will be advised on booking and our unique service means we'll guide you through the paperwork taking care of administration where possible.
- Be resident for a minimum of three working days (excluding weekends, public holidays and the day of arrival) before the wedding day. It is not now compulsory to have to stay a minimum of two weeks but for your enjoyment, it is highly recommended.
- Have valid ten-year passports not due to expire within six months, plus photocopies of all pages relating to the personal information contained therein.
- Each have your own Single Status Statutory Declaration confirming that you are free to get married. These must include your name, address, nationality, religion, passport number and occupation; state whether single, divorced or widowed; that you intend to marry in Cyprus; and be signed and stamped by a UK solicitor, stating ‘solicitor' on the document. Scottish nationals should obtain a Certificate of No Impediment from the local registry office in place of the Declaration.
- Have a copy of the decree absolute if divorced and, if Catholic, a copy of the marriage annulment.
- Have a copy of the death certificate if widowed.
- Proof of parental consent if under 18, stamped and signed by a solicitor.
- Proof of name change by Deed Poll, stamped and signed by a solicitor.
- Birth certificates and for a church wedding at least one of the two to be baptized.
- Adoption certificates if adopted.
- To ensure the success of every wedding and the happiness of every bride and groom, The Bridal Consultant requires photocopies of all relevant documents at least six weeks before your departure. You MUST bring the originals with you.
- In the case of last-minute weddings we will, of course, try to fast-track all the legalities and processing of information wherever possible. However, we cannot be held responsible for any changes to the time and date of service or wedding arrangements which are beyond our control. Likewise, incorrect or forgotten documentation may lead to cancellation of the wedding, for which the Bridal Consultant can not be deemed liable.
